AND THEY CALL IT SUMMER

A COLD DAY

Today was an inside day, it was so lovely and warm yesterday, today is the complete opposite.  It is freezing cold,  a bit rainy and windy. We have the fire lit and it is suppose to be summer? What the heck is going on?

Tonight I still managed to do a 10 km walk with my friend, Janice. As I said yesterday I did a super long walk by myself, almost 3 hours of walking. I had just put my name down for a possible casual job in town, so went for a walk afterwards.

I want to buy one of these hoodies:

I also love this hair style, I must try to do it on our Daughter’s beautiful long hair:

I love this stash of wool:

I will finish with these that I find humorous:

BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL

MUSTARD IS THE NEW BLACK !

*****************************************************************************************************

Before I start this post, I have to show you my new painted nails, I love the colour =not mustard, but a pretty silvery lavender.    It is a shame I have shitty old hands, but I do like my nails, painted after work today.  🙂   It is something I don’t really do that often, I normally only paint my toe nails.

As far as I am concerned, mustard IS the new black.  I just can’t get enough of the colour.   I use to wear mustard clothes years ago when it was a risky colour to wear back then, probably in the late 80’s.  People screwed their nose up when I use to wear my favourite mustard shirt, most thought it was a henus colour.

I am glad Mustard is one of the new seasons trendy colours at the moment, although I don’t really care for trends, if I like something, I’ll wear it anyway.   But at least I have access to buying a wider variety of mustard coloured items in the shops at the moment. I wonder where you can buy mustard coloured nail polish in Dunedin?

I now have a knitted cabled mustard beanie I have finished,  I have two  mustard dresses, a mustard chiffon skirt, mustard brogues, even mustard trousers.  I like the yellowy mustard and the browny mustard too.

I don’t understand why some people still don’t like the colour, how could you not?   It is a colourful ,cheerful and has plenty of brightness. Especially great to wear my mustard skinny trousers on a dismal dull drizzy Dunedin day.  It is cold today, miserable weather.

I am going to share with you some cool mustard items I like.

I’M HOME

SISTERLY VISIT TO AUSTRALIA

I am back from visiting my Sister Brenda in Brisbane, Australia.  I have been home a few days now but have been too busy or too tired to do a post.  It is not from not wanting to, just a lack of spare time.

We had  a great time together in the sunny days over there, Brenda managed to get quite a few days off work too.  One day when she was working I was brave and took the train into the city (without getting lost), making my way to the Museum, to a few shops and then the two big malls in Brisbane, one being the Myer Building Mall and the other one the  David Jones Mall.   The later was only for a ‘look-see’ as it was very expensive and designer, well above my capabilities to buy anything.   I liked the Myer Mall in Queen Street better anyway.. More my ‘cup of tea’ and more affordable.

I took myself to the ‘Nelson Mandela’ movie on the top floor with a large coffee and a big cake of chocolate,…just as well as it was a two hour movie!  Brilliant movie.    I want to see the ‘Railway Man’ movie now with Colin, it must be still on, I will have to check the newspaper out.

I left the movie theatre on the top floor to find a Lincraft store nearby, I found some 100gm balls of pure wool for $3.99. ..a bargain, therefore I stuffed a few into my suitcase.  I tend to by NZ Made pure wool when I can, but this Aussie wool was too good to pass up and I am sure it is of the same quality.

I found out it is too hot to knit in Brisbane, it was around 30 degrees most days with the last two days reaching 36!

Brenda and I spent quite a few days together, I enjoyed that the most. We both LOVED the Ed K   ‘Live’ concert.. that was our highlight.  More on the trip later, have to hop off to work.

Colin is off to see the specialist today, he had a phone call to stay stop the pills he is taking as his blood test from Monday is low, we are not sure what that means, but he needs another blood test before he sees him early this morning.

I will finish with a few of Brenda’s photos, I have misplaced my camera with all of my own photos on….it must be somewhere left at Brenda’s house, I hope it is found 😦

Have a nice Friday.
